Cook should stay in jail

Former bishop's appeal to finish her sentence at home should not be granted.

Former Episcopal Bishop Heather Cook wants to stay home where she can hide from the grim reality of killing a man and then abandoning him in the road (“Former Episcopal Church bishop Heather Cook seeks to serve rest of sentence for drunken-driving death at home,” Jan. 29). No doubt Tom Palermo's family wishes he could return home to his wife and family.

Ms. Cook's sentence was far too lenient to begin with, and she does not deserve to be rewarded for simply being a model inmate. Everyone requesting this should be ashamed. It may be her legal right to ask, but it's her moral obligation to serve out her sentence in prison. It is the very least she can do. She belongs in prison.
