Why a $100-an-hour taxpayer-financed consultant for Pugh?

It was announced that Mayor Catherine Pugh will retain a media consultant on a one year, $150,000 contract to work 25 hours a week (“Pugh to retain media consultant at $150,000 a year,” March 27). Greg Tucker stated that the contract is not reflective of the actual hours he will work. He will be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Right!

That contract also allows for $5,700 for expenses. As stated, this works out to $111 per hour. Can’t Mayor Pugh find someone capable enough to work as a city employee for 40 hours a week? Sounds like a sweet deal for Mr. Tucker. The mayor’s office must be rolling in money. How can I get a job like that? No wonder we don’t have money for school maintenance.
