Chuck Schumer speaks to the Senate floor and states that him and Mitch McConnell have come to an agreement to end the government shutdown.
I am astonished at this country's tolerance for a Congress that cannot carry out it's own constitutional mandate to raise and disburse money (“Government shutdowns are for losers,” Jan. 22).
If these 435 representatives and 100 senators were in business or in the military, I promise that they would be quickly fired or relieved from command.
Our country has the opportunity to do just that every two years; perhaps it is long past the time to exercise that opportunity in the next election. If incumbents can't do the job, find someone who can.
