Cell tower near the zoo: How about a giraffe?

Another proposed design for the Druid Hill Park cell tower is a clock tower with the cellular antennas hidden. (City application to CHAP)

I read the recent article about the proposed cell phone tower in Druid Hill Park (“Neighbors balk at proposed 180-foot cell tower in Baltimore’s Druid Hill Park,” March 11). Since it will be located on The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore property, why not disguise the tower in the form of a huge giraffe — albeit with a very long neck?

Some people will love it and some people will hate it. And perhaps over time, it will become much like that humanoid sculpture in front of Penn Station. It will be just another quirky part of quirky old Baltimore.
