Reduced carbon footprint not 'far off'

In response to the recent letter to the editor, "A carbon free world is far off” (March 7), I, as an individual living in a green house in Baltimore County, disagree.

Much of the heat in my small, well insulated home is provided though passive solar power. I am off the grid because all my electrical needs are met by the photovoltaics (solar panels) on the roof. I also have a composting toilet, conserving water and energy.

I am living a simple, full and joyful life — always mindful that if each of us does our part now to heal this miraculous planet, we will make a difference that will not be "hundreds of years away.”
