Baltimore Sun sports columnist Peter Schmuck grades the performance of Orioles players. (Baltimore Sun video)
It's official. Chris Davis struck out 195 times and Mark Trumbo 149. If their bats were used exclusively, the Orioles would have played two complete weeks of games and never put the ball in play. All in all, the Orioles would have been in strike out heaven for 8.5 percent of the season with these two free agent signings ("Duquette: Despite 14-game drop-off this season, Orioles will reload, not rebuild, in 2018," Oct. 2). Hopefully, General Manager Dan Duquette will do better with "shadow players" because with almost $200 million tied up with these two, signing Manny Machado or getting a contract extension with Jonathan Schoop will be all but impossible.
