Attorney General Barr is the hero, not the villain

Atty. Gen. William Barr makes first appearance before Congress since he released special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s final report.

In your recent editorial in which you use all the rhetoric of the left (“mealy-mouthisms,” “fraidy cat,” “hairsplitting”) to make your point, you ignore two critical facts (“Alternative Fact of the Week: William Barr, America’s ‘masterful hairsplitter,’” May 2).

Attorney General William Barr is not in the bag for President Donald Trump, he is in the bag to protect the office of the presidency from the weaponization of the intelligence community to illegally spy in order to undermine an elected president. Illegal spying used to be a big deal.

Second, Mr. Barr is accused of not sharing special counsel Robert Mueller’s wish for more context when, in fact, he shared the context of Mr. Mueller’s summaries as well as his full report. Mr. Barr suppressed nothing. His actions gut your words.
