I enjoyed the story on Ron Smith by David Zurawek ("A community reaches out to show its affection for Ron Smith," Nov. 27).
While I applaud the editorial mention in "The voice of reason" (Nov. 25), I wish that you could have restrained yourselves from pointing out how you differed from him politically, how you were glad that he differed from those other radical conservatives, that you applauded his stand against some Republican ideas and that you were so proud when his sincere beliefs agreed with yours. Simple words of praise would have sufficed. I guess I expected too much.
