Romneycare by another name

Dan Rodricks' column about Obamacare and Western Maryland makes me think we'd be more successful in discussing the Republican opposition to this legislation if we called it "Romneycare" instead ("No progress toward deal on shutdown," Oct. 1).

After all, the health insurance program Obamacare was modeled after, which was enacted when Mitt Romney was governor of Massachusetts, has been successful for the past seven years there, and 90 percent of the state's 6.6 million people are now insured.

Yet the Republican party hasn't seen fit to protest in Massachusetts, even though you would think they would be concerned about all those people being forced to buy health care.

But call it "Obamacare" and the extreme right wing hates it.
