Obama and Democrats to blame for current debacle

After reading Dan Rodricks' column ("Obamacare, Obama, GOP take a tumble," Nov. 5), I was surprised that he took off his liberal polarized glasses and finally has realized what many of us moderate Democrats have long known.

And that is that we have a deceptive and incompetent president and administration. But what Mr. Rodricks failed to indicate was that the deception over President Barack Obama's statements that "you can keep your health insurance if you like it" was accepted by Maryland's senators and Democratic representatives like Elijah Cummings, John Sarbanes, Steny Hoyer and the rest of the bunch, so they are just as guilty because they bought into the deception. Furthermore, they showed their incompetence by not voting to keep the government open.

Mr. Rodricks is wrong to blame the GOP for shutting down the government as each of the GOP budget bills provided all the funds to keep the government operating except for Obamacare-related funding or implementation. It was President Obama's and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's "all or none" demands and lack of compromise on the GOP's budget providing for funding of "most" all government activities. That is the real deception that the left-leaning media has ignored.
