Rioting requires police response [Letter]

As an Army officer in the late 1960s, I was trained in riot control, responding to the race riots in Washington, D.C. after the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. and just before my departure to Vietnam. I have a simple solution. You see the use of tear gas frequently. Did you know that you can mix with tear gas an element called DM, which is a vomiting agent? No need for bullets. No need for heavy armament. Just deploy a few canisters of a mixture of CS and DM. No one will die, but it won't be a pretty sight. You wouldn't have had a Kent State, for example.

We have to contend with the liberal media where they depict small children with parents using milk to neutralize the sting of tear gas. The question begs, what were these small children doing there in the first place? The media also depicts the victim as a child when he was 6 foot 4 inches tall weighing close to 300 pounds and was killed minutes after allegedly robbing a convenience store whose owner has yet to be interviewed on TV. And who is in the fray? None other than Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. No surprise there!

The world is full of injustices. Go to Wikipedia and check The Bonus March of 1932. The facts will amaze you. We live in a strange world. My son is now a lawyer. I share with him a few pearls of wisdom one of which is, "it doesn't have to be right or wrong, it just has to be the law." We are a nation of laws. We need the legal system to find the truth.
