Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz proposes to alter the name of Robert E. Lee Park ("Rename Robert E. Lee Park," June 23). Apparently, the Civil War general after whom it is name was a bad man.
Yet anyone who can only see that "house divided" in terms of one topic only (race) is either sorely ignorant or a political panderer. Many people would consider Mr. Kamenetz's proposition tantamount to the Vietnam war protesters who spit on soldiers and called them "baby killers" because they didn't agree politically.
According to Mr. Kamenetz, shouldn't we also change the name Washington, D.C. to something else?
