Government intrusion in marriage is OK, but not in smoking?

As a lifelong Republican I am troubled by Sen. Edward Reilly's hypocrisy ("Bill banning smoking with child in car attacked," March 6).

The Anne Arundel County Republican complains about the government imposing itself in our daily lives when it comes to pumping poisonous toxins into the bodies of young children. Yet he supports the government imposing itself by recently voting against the Civil Marriage Protection Act, which has absolutely no impact on anyone other than those getting married.
