Recently, Hillary Clinton proposed that every American should be automatically registered to vote on their 18th birthday unless they opted out ("How about voter equality?" June 8). Additionally, she insisted that there should be at least 20 days of early voting. Now is not the time for half-measures. Everybody should be registered, legal residents, not yet legal residents, visitors, everybody. People should be able to vote any day they want during the year the election is being held including after the official election day. After all, voting is surely the most important civic duty in America and we must make it as easy as possible for people who are uninterested, uninformed, mentally-impaired, criminal or just plain lazy.
Allow me to offer a truly bold suggestion. Not only should every person in America be registered to vote but since everybody knows that conservatives and Republicans are racist, homophobic bigots who shouldn't even be allow to vote, each registered voter should have his vote count toward the Democratic candidate in his district. This is just common sense since we all know that the Democrats' progressive policies are the only thing that can save the country. To make it even easier, and to save the money it costs to actually hold an election, the government should just designate an official election day, declare the Democrat the winner with 99.9 percent of the vote and celebrate the fact that we had 100 percent participation in our democratic process — just like North Korea.
