Kudos for you recent editorial on the Red Line ("Why Baltimore needs the red line," May 11).
Young Americans increasingly are moving to places where they can get around without owning a car. Whether Gov. Larry Hogan moves forward with the Red line will largely define whether Maryland offers such opportunities for growth.
The governor has suggested he would be hard-nosed in his approach to infrastructure investment. But last week we saw the Maryland Transportation Authority's bond rating status threatened by the governor's action to reduce toll revenues.
It was hardly a sign of strong stewardship, and it will likely cost the state dearly. Let's hope Mr. Hogan is motivated less by ideology than by the prospect of future economic prosperity through advancing important transit projects like the Red Line.
