High-tech buses would be better and cheaper than the Red Line

There is a clean and maybe cheaper alternative to an existing proposal for the Red Line ("Don't kill the 'jobs line,'" Jan. 4): energy efficient buses with a GPS system that tracks each bus in real time and gives an estimated time of arrival to each stop. The number of busses can be adjusted as needed, and there will be no disruption to residents and businesses on the proposed route. Yes, there will be fewer temporary construction jobs, but improved transportation system in no time.
