Where does The Sun find sportswriters who think penalties cost the Ravens three games ("Ravens' penalty problems only getting worse," Oct. 18)?
The three games were lost by poor coaching. The offensive coordinator and John Harbaugh decided to go for two points instead of kicking a point after touchdown, which would have put the first game into overtime. The next two games, with fourth and short they tried for a first down or a touchdown and failed. If field goals had been kicked instead, the Ravens could have kicked a field goal instead of having to go for a touchdown late in those games. It seems Coach Harbaugh has lost faith in Justin Tucker or forgot to put points on the board.
Either way, it wasn't the penalties, it was poor coaching.
Penalties absolutely hurt, but this is not what caused the Ravens to lose the three games, and if Mr. Harbaugh continues to put up with stupid penalties that is on him. He needs to check himself at the tunnel.
