The people will not abide long our arrogant lawmakers

Politicians of both parties are part of the problem with the political system in the U.S. They are incompetent political hacks who vote for their own agenda, not for the good of the community or the people they represent ("A pox on both their houses," Oct. 6).

Both parties' past voting records and actions have not made the average citizen's life better. They have failed the majority of residents in the districts they represent.

The people will not stand by silently. A representative should not vote for political favors, lobbyists' wishes, or campaign donations. A lack of integrity and non-disclosure, closed-door deals, governmental fees imposed on its citizens, voting for a minority instead of the majority is not to be tolerated from elected officials.

Some laws come to mind affecting Maryland residents: The "rain tax," higher tolls, red-light and speed cameras, gun control and gerrymandered districts.

Americans won't tolerate representatives who fail to hear the voices of their constituents, and no politician should not be in office when they act like they are above the people they represent.
