City police leaders can't do math

Baltimore Police Commissioner Kevin Davis told a group of city law enforcement leaders on Wednesday that he wants a federal monitor for the police department to have big-city police experience. (Karl Merton Ferron / Baltimore Sun)

What's wrong with Baltimore leadership and where is the accountability of the city's payroll department for letting the police overtime shortfall go on for three years ("Baltimore police union says city has underpaid officer overtime for years," Oct. 10)? And where is Commissioner Kevin Davis? It appears that he does not understand his job.

Commissioner Davis' first job is to ensure that the people who work for him go home after work and the next thing is that they get paid what they have earned. As a taxpayer in Maryland, I am tired of government employees not doing their jobs.
