We ask too much of police officers

Some politicians want the funds either to buy votes with giveaway programs or to create vast programs to battle "social problems."

All these programs have failed and used up dollars that should have been spent on the basic responsibilities of government: infrastructure, defense, border protection and programs that benefit all citizens equally. Anything else is pork and waste and not the responsibility of the federal government.

One program that could designed to benefit all citizens would be a comprehensive effort to treat and protect citizens with mental health challenges, as well as those who are mentally or emotionally incapable of handling the responsibilities of gun ownership.
