Your editorial on Texas Gov. Rick Perry's attempts to attract Maryland residents and business to his state got it right ("Hey Rick Perry: Don't mess with Maryland," Sept. 11).
You correctly point out the high rate of Texans without health insurance, and how Maryland family income is far superior, as well as its quality of education.
Additionally I call your attention to the fact that, as of 2012, Texas' poverty rate of 16.2 percent made it the 46th worst state in the nation by that measure, while Maryland enjoys a comparatively low 9.7 percent rate, made it the 11th least poor state in the country.
So I guess if one truly aspires to be poor, one should be sure to move to Texas.
