Don't vote Democrat, necessarily

As a lifelong Democrat residing in Baltimore County, I am appalled at the recent placement of hundreds of signs in the county and in Baltimore City that say simply, "Vote for the Democrats." What happened to voting for the most qualified candidate? What about voting for candidates based on their record or how they stand on the issues?

A perfect example is The Sun's endorsement of Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown at the same time they are describing his campaign as dishonest, his disastrous role in the health care exchange rollout and his administration record toward businesses as laughable ("Brown for governor," Oct. 25). Mr. Brown is not competent to be our next governor, and despite the signs suddenly placed on street corners and homes, he does not deserve our democratically registered vote.
