According to The Sun, it looks like I am about to be barred from parking in front of my own home ("City Council approves new parking restrictions in Hampden," Feb. 9).
I have lived in the 3600 block of Keswick Road for 25 years. I was not included in any door-to-door signature gathering because I certainly would have signed up for parking permits, given they are the only option I have to be able to park.
As it stands now I cannot park on or within a block of my home due to the Johns Hopkins employees parking in the area.
Do I like it that Johns Hopkins employees park all around the area when they have a garage to park in and as a home owner I cannot park? No, but at least I know when I can park my car for the night I do not have 24-hour restrictions.
Now I find out my block is excluded from this newly drawn map, which means that anyone living just a block up from me can now park on my block with no restrictions. Yet I still cannot even park in the evening when I get home from work and all the spots on my block are taken because I will not have a permit to park in the 24-hour restricted blocks.
How can the city limit a public street to restricted parking 24 hours a day? Public parking should be available for everyone's use.
