The boldness of the U.S. strike on Osama bin Laden did much more then make Americans happy. It also had another far-reaching effect: Terrorists hiding around the world now understand that they cannot escape America's long reach.
If we find terrorists in another country, we will not hesitate to take them out — with or without that country's assent. Countries that previously turned a blind eye to terrorists under the thinking that their "sovereignty" rights would protect them? They now know better.
Terrorists will now find it more difficult to operate, no matter what country they are in. While President Obama has his critics on this operation, he deserves credit for giving it the go ahead. And the decision on the burial of Bin Laden? He did not deserve a full burial, and we could not allow a burial place to become a "shrine" of some sort.
Bin Laden's burial at sea was handled with infinitely more respect then he would have shown an American. The president will still have his critics on how all this was handled. As a conservative who rarely agrees with the president, I salute him for handling this difficult situation brilliantly.
