In the aftermath of Orlando, Hillary Clinton wants to ban guns and Donald Trump wants to ban Muslims ("Trump and Clinton and their very different responses to the Orlando shootings," June 12).
While neither measure has any chance of being implemented in its absolute form, my bet would be that focusing on the people responsible would be more productive than focusing on the weapons.
The French have no constitutional right to bear arms, and for all intents and purposes no one except their military and police can legally possess them. Yet somehow Islamic terrorists armed with assault rifles managed to kill 130 of their citizens.
