Empty seats at Camden Yards

The Orioles are in a playoff hunt, but attendance to Camden Yards has been low. We talk with Oriole fans about why so many seats are empty. (Baltimore Sun video)

Jim Mundy from Ellicott City writes of the expense of taking his family of four to an Orioles game ("Don't blame the fans for staying home," Sept. 23). He chose bleacher seats at $26 each, claiming they were the cheapest available. He could have purchased Friday night student seats at a greatly reduced price in upper reserve. Even the regular price of upper reserve is cheaper.

Instead of overpaying for soda, he could have purchased it outside the stadium or at his local grocery store. He could have chosen to park at a light rail station, saving parking fees, or parked at a local garage for $8. Where there's a will, there's a way. Complaining about prices at an entertainment venue is a losing cause. Fans find a way to reduce their costs. The emptiness at Oriole Park at Camden Yards is shameful.
