My husband and I recently attended an Orioles game after hurrying down Eutaw Street to our seats along with thousands of other fans.
As we made our way, they announced the singing of the national anthem and the woman who was to perform. From where we were she was readily visible on the scoreboard screen, and we stopped to watch and listen.
I looked around and was pleasantly surprised to see that virtually all activity had ceased. Honestly, it was like something you'd see in a movie. Everyone on Eutaw Street was perfectly still, looking up at the screen, paying their respects to our national anthem, our flag and, by extension, our country.
It literally brought tears to my eyes. I am a Baltimore native and I love this area and this country. It was extremely heartening to see that despite all the problems we face at home and around the world there are many, many others who obviously love and respect our country as well.
