Why didn't the Associated Press writer covering the story about Fox News' Bill O'Reilly contact NBC and CBS about what happened in the aftermath of the Falklands War ("Reports contradict O'Reilly protest memories," Feb. 26)?
The man who was heading up NBC's coverage in Argentina at the time has given a telephone interview on The O'Reilly Factor that substantiates what Mr. O'Reilly had written about the situation back in 1982. CBS News provided a film which was also shown supporting O'Reilly's coverage.
But reporter Debora Day quoted unnamed sources, The New York Times and the correspondent from the Russian news agency Tass who was in Buenos Aires at the time. No wonder we get such garbage for our news today.
