Former Gov. Martin O'Malley has begun his presidential bid, so OK, America, are you ready for tax increases on income, gas and sales? How about sunny, partly sunny, partly cloudy, drizzle, showers, thunderstorm, hazy, fog, rain, lightning, tropical storm, freezing rain, hail, hurricane, sandstorm, high pollen count, snow shower and blizzard taxes? There is a reason why so few elected officials turned out for Mr. O'Malley on Saturday ("O'Malley seeks path to White House," May 30).
Regarding the thugs, riots, policing and recent events in Baltimore, Mr. O'Malley said they represented "about everything it is supposed to mean to be an American." If Baltimore is an example of how Mr. O'Malley wants to rebuild the American dream, thanks, but no thanks.
Just like his sidekick, former Lt. Gov. Anthony G. Brown, if Mr. O'Malley were put in charge of the Sahara Desert, there would be a shortage of sand within four years.
