There are much worse things than official prayer

Every day most of us are offended by something; I am offended by cursing, people who do not clean their yards, rudeness and people who hurt children and animals. That is life. But I try to live by my values and beliefs. I cannot stop people who offend me.

But to be offended by a prayer anywhere — too bad! ("Supreme Court to consider prayer at government meetings," Aug. 10.) Live with it. To invoke the help of a supreme being anywhere at any time hurts no one. So to you who are offended: Quit complaining and do something nice for someone.
