Obamacare is a done deal

Obamacare has been approved by both houses of Congress and signed by the president. Both Republicans and Democrats are in favor of elements of the law, such as no lifetime limits, no exclusion for preexisting conditions and coverage under parental policies for children up to age 26. If there are areas of disagreement, the proper legislative path is to offer amendments to the law ("Fund government, then negotiate," Oct. 7).

This has been done many times with Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps and welfare. The temper tantrum being thrown by House Republicans at a time when millions of Americans are choosing their new heath care plans is totally non-productive and frankly pathetic. The choice for Republicans is simple: Either accept the law or amend it.
