Commander-in-chief deserves support [Letter]

Regarding the letter in defense of President Barack Obama's approach to ISIS ("Critics would have Obama shoot first, ask questions later," Sept. 6), Mr. Obama has been repeatedly criticized for his style as commander-in-chief of U.S. Armed Forces. From my point of view, he is on the right track.

Look at Israel, and consider what they have faced since 1946. They have been confronted by many nations and many, many different kinds of radical groups, all bent on destroying them. President Obama understands that there is no "Shock and Awe" solution in the Middle East. So why don't Americans support our president in these perilous times?
