President Obama: Trapped by his past

I'm surprised more political experts haven't linked Barack Obama's childhood to his stand-for-nothing policies.

As a child, Mr. Obama was abandoned by his Kenyan-born father and shunted aside by his anthropologist mother. Fortunately, there were grandparents in the picture.

Anyone growing up amid such circumstances, no matter how idealistic, learns to accommodate authority as a survival tool.

So from the get go, Mr. Obama has worked overtime appeasing the Pentagon, Wall Street, the health insurance moguls and his liberal base.

Because of a lifetime of appeasement survival techniques, he is now playing the same hand from the Oval Office.

What a pity for those of us who really did believe in change.
