I'm still scratching my head over Rev. Raphael Warnock's praise of outgoing President Barack Obama, saying "Thank you, Barack Obama. I'm sad to see you go" — while at the same time disparaging President-elect Donald Trump by refusing to even mention his name ("Martin Luther King Jr. Day highlights transition from Obama to Trump," Jan 16).
Just exactly what did Mr. Obama do for the black community? I know he ensured more blacks were on welfare, wages were down and racial relations were the worst they've been in 50 years. Wow, that's certainly something to be grateful for, isn't it?
Meanwhile, Rev. Warnock has no idea whether blacks will fare better under Mr. Trump's presidency than they did under Mr. Obama's, yet he is apparently unwilling to give Mr. Trump a chance. I would say that smacks of hypocrisy and racism, wouldn't you?
