During his State of the Union speech, President Barack Obama said his "one regret" was the deplorable partisan state of affairs that has marred his presidency and that the "rancor and suspicion between the parties has gotten worse instead of better" ("In final State of the Union, Obama calls for unity," Jan. 12).
Are you kidding me? How does he think it got that way? President Obama pushes the limits of every hot button liberal issue, acts independently of Congress and is then aghast that conservatives don't just fall in line behind him. What does he expect? What arrogance! He's like the playground bully who blames the unpopular kid for getting beat up.
Mr. Obama is the primary reason that the partisan divide has gotten so wide. If he, as leader of our country, had set a robust bipartisan tone throughout his presidency, he wouldn't have this "one regret." Wake up and leave office, Mr. President.
