Strike North Korea first

What is the point in having spent trillions of dollars to create the strongest military in the history of the world and then not using it when a third-generation lunatic who cannot be reasoned with via negotiation is developing the capability to attack our homeland and those of our allies with nuclear weapons and guided missiles?

I'm referring to "Little Kim" and his coterie of looney-bin henchmen in North Korea ("Seoul says North Korea capable of next nuclear test anytime," Sept. 12).

Does anyone think that Kim Jong Un will not attack the United States or Japan or South Korea once he improves the range of his missiles and the size of the payload they can carry? Does anyone think there is a country on the face of the Earth, including China, that will mourn his demise?

I say take out North Korea's nuclear program, its armament industries and its political leadership using our most sophisticated planes and missiles in a massive series of attacks without warning and get rid of this threat once and for all.

Once this cancer is removed, then we can be our normal charitable and benevolent selves and work with the North Korean populace to raise their standard of living and also to bring them into the community of nations and out of the nightmare they have been living in since at least June of 1950.

Waiting to be attacked before dealing with the North Korean threat would be downright stupid.
