In was amazed by a couple of facts in reporter Justin Fenton's article about Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby ("Mosby's newfound popularity made her a sought-after national speaker in 2015," June 3):

First that the cash-strapped Baltimore City school system has money it can give away to non-school employees in the form of gift cards (Ms. Mosby was given gift cards of $25 and $50).

Recent reports have described the city school budget as short millions of dollars, to the point where more than 100 employees could lose their jobs.

Secondly that Ms Mosby, whose annual salary of $240,000, would need to accept such gift cards. It looks like someone is robbing the poor (the school system) to give to the rich -- Marilyn Mosby.
