We read with interest Marvin Finley's article, "The moral decay of the Md. GOP" (March 21). While we agree with the core of the article, we will dispense with the politics of it since morality knows no political limitations. It has been said many times, "You can't legislate Morality." We do not agree. You can legislate Morality, if, if, one has the moral fiber to do so. We do agree the country, as a whole, has turned a deaf ear and a blind eye to the Judo-Christian beliefs the country was founded upon. Those beliefs, along with other faiths that acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being, have been the foundation of this country from before 1776 to at least circa 1950. Unfortunately the morals of the country have been sliding downhill ever since.
We believe, we, as a nation, have been blessed since the Founding Fathers put pen to paper. Few believe that today. Unfortunately, so called leaders and courts at every level have twisted and turned the moral truths of our core beliefs into the unfortunate tenets of the "Progressive Society." Too many of "We The People" have turned away from their core beliefs of yesteryear, and have engaged in the new, but shortsighted, free society of today.
There are few today who are constantly aware of the fact that they will be held accountable for their choices in this life. Death comes to us all, and then Judgment for Eternity. Eternity! Only a heartbeat away.
