The politicians of both major parties have failed us; it's time to look elsewhere for our leaders

I have to respectfully disagree with Del. Heather Mizeur regarding writing her in for governor ("Mizeur: Don't write me in for governor," Oct. 28).

I will still be writing in Ms. Mizeur for governor or voting for a third party. It's time that politicians realize that we hire them to work for us when we cast that ballot.

Incumbent politicos need to realize how fed up "we the people" are with them taking more and more of our money, taking away more and more of our rights, wasting billions on dollars on idiotic projects we don't need or studies that reach a conclusion that anyone with any common sense already knows.

We're spending billions of dollars on a drug war we lost decades ago, not to mention the politicians' childish fighting and ugly commercials. We need to send them a message loud and clear — you're fired.

Think what could we do with all the money wasted on political ads. We could offer free clinics and hospitals for all U.S. citizens without the red tape and confusion; people could just walk in for care. How confusing is that?

We could build a high-speed rail system that will allow more people to see this beautiful country or look for jobs in other cities. We could put people to work cleaning up our land of the free and really take care of our military men and women physically and mentally.

I could go on, but first we need to vote for the third-party candidates who are not allowed to participate in debates, and for more women. Even if they only serve one term they can't screw up the country any worse than the politicians we've been electing have done.
