Why don't we refer to recent killings by police ("Freddie Gray and déjà vu," Sept. 22) as a nightmare because I sense people's emotions being exploited and the victims of grieving families abused. Yes, there is a growing list as Michael Brown is still unarmed, Freddie Gray simply picked on and numerous other stories that are repeated with the actual details both slow to come out or forgotten.
Even in the latest example, The Sun brings up a detail that must be considered, yet is then immediately dismissed. "That PCP was later recovered from his vehicle may prove irrelevant given his non-threatening behavior as documented on helicopter and dashboard videos," the editorial notes.
Seems to me you also left out the soundtrack and the officers' concerns. Have any of you ever dealt with a person on PCP? They can be calm and during a sudden moment start trying to rip your face off. Again, was the man listening to the police and letting them do his job? How did his knowing he had PCP in the vehicle affect his behavior? What is this man's past?
Notice I said man because he surely wasn't some lamb helplessly following the officer's instructions. The investigation is hardly over and already they are charging that officer with a crime and would anyone be surprised if it doesn't turn out once again like the Freddie Gray verdicts?
