Mikulski was never too busy to listen

Regarding your recent article on Sen. Barbara Mikulski's upcoming retirement ("Mikulski at ease with decision, record in Senate," March 4), during the 1970s residents of Prince George's County were awakening to find deer maimed and ensnared in painful "steel jaw" traps.

A family member called the matter to Ms. Mikulski's attention. What impressed me most about the episode was that she visited our community personally to hear complaints from neighbors and then championed a bill to outlaw such traps.
