Medicaid deserves to be cut

Erin Cox's article about Gov. Larry Hogan's proposed cuts to Medicaid is a prime example of why these types of programs need to be curtailed ("Critics fault Hogan's plan to cut Medicaid spending," Feb. 13). Ms Cox tells us about a 27-year-old woman whose second pregnancy hardly cost her a penny because almost everything was covered by Medicaid.

This woman obviously could not afford to take care of her first child because she is receiving Medicaid, but she gets pregnant with another child that she cannot afford. In the story, there is no mention of a husband or even the father of the child standing up and taking care of his responsibility. Perhaps this woman should have taken a few seconds and given thought to birth control.

Taxpayers already have enough problems to take care of without adding the burden of more children whose parents cannot afford to take care of them.
