McCormick deserves praise for stand on Iran

Dan Rodricks' column ("Not even cake sprinkles for Iran," April 12) belittling McCormick & Co.'s decision to stop doing business in Iran because it will deprive Iranian children of cake sprinkles misses the greater issue.

Iran's leaders fund terrorism, kill U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and are developing an illegal nuclear weapons program that they intend to use to wipe America and its allies "off the map." If enough companies followed McCormick's example by ending their business in Iran, the regime might finally see that there are consequences to its behavior.

What will benefit the children of Iran much more than cake sprinkles is a government that starts respecting its own people and the rest of the world. McCormick deserves credit for taking action that hopefully will help make this a reality.
