Rawlings-Blake blames everyone but herself

What a sham Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is. She tells rioters we are giving you space to vent your frustration by looting, burning and behaving in a criminal manner while the police stand down, then complains the feds won't give her money to pay police overtime and to help restore businesses damaged during the riots ("Police union blasts commanders in 'after action review' of riot," July 8).

The Charm City Circulator is costing more money than originally expected, and Mayor Rawlings-Blake acts as if this just happened overnight. She also complains about the Red Line not being funded by the state when she can't even fund the circulator.

Now she blames Police Commissioner Anthony Batts for the uptick in murders and crime but fails to take any responsibility herself. And then after former mayor Sheila Dixon announced her run for the office again, Ms. Rawlings-Blake fired Anthony Batts and put all the blame for crime on him.

Let us review. Two candidates for mayor, one who steals gift cards meant for needy children and one who shows her incompetence nearly every day.

It is time for a Republican to step forward and give the citizens of Baltimore an opportunity to keep what they have or elect a person with different views on how to solve the city's problems.

If voters keep either Ms. Rawlings-Blake or Ms. Dixon in office then they will get what they voted for — more murders and more crime.
