Seventy years after the end of World War II, Memorial Day has come again without any official recognition of Merchant Marine workers as veterans of that conflict.
Few people know that the Merchant Marine's losses of one in every 26 sailors was higher than that of any other service.
Congress has not yet given full veterans status to merchant mariners even after some court rulings. It's still not too late to correct this.
