We all saw what happened during the recent demonstrations — the television coverage of people using the protest as an excuse to rob from stores at Mondawmin Mall ("Baltimore descends into chaos, violence, looting," April 28).
We saw some of the looting at a CVS pharmacy before it was set on fire. What we did not hear about is the drugs stolen from all the CVSs and the RiteAid stores.
Their pharmacies were stripped clean of prescription drugs, including controlled narcotics substances. I'm sure they will find their way onto the streets of Baltimore to be sold to people who are addicted to them.
The won't be free, of course, which means that somehow the people who need them will have to come up with the money to pay for them. This could lead to new potential wave of crime on top what we've already seen.
