While I no longer live in Baltimore, I grew up there and it was with a very heavy heart that I watched the events of this past week unfold ("Six officers charged in death of Freddie Gray," May 1).
While I completely believe the allegations of police misconduct and use of excessive force, I was saddened by the pictures of looters throughout the city.
Where is it written that blacks' anger regarding their plight as inner-city residents can or should be mitigated by a free-for-all grab of merchandise?
