I am a little taken aback by what is going on in Baltimore City the last few days. I see the problem as lack of leadership. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has no experience to deal with a situation of this magnitude ("Who's in charge?" April 28). The mayor wants to run the whole show, and she doesn't know how. She has a very experienced police commissioner and should listen to him and let him do his job. He knows what to do. She should run the Rev. Al Sharpton and Rep. Elijah Cummings out of town. They are not here to help, they are here to make false accusations look real or suit their agendas.
People in places of authority must have experience to fall back on when the going gets tough.
I served in all types of supervisory positions, mid-level management positions, and the number two position in a very professional origination. Over the years, did I have all the experience to deal with the many situations that were thrust upon me? No, I sometimes called on my experience to do what was right and calm the situation. Without the right experience, you won't find the right solution.
