The day JFK was shot [Letter]

I'm a 10th-grader at Baltimore City College and after the morning shift I'm walking down the hill to board the No. 22 bus which takes me to Park Circle, where I will transfer to the No. 7.

But there are rumors that something has happened to JFK, though no one is sure exactly what.

I board the bus and am stunned by what I see. Everyone on the bus is either sobbing or crying silently. No one is talking. At this point I hear a man yell in anguish "Now that damned cowboy is president."

I know at that instant that Camelot is gone and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are loose in the land.

The Vietnam War, assassinations, race riots, the Chicago police riot, Kent State and Watergate all follow in rapid succession.

My innocence was taken from me forever.

It was the worst day of my life.
