No reader of this newspaper should overlook the fact that we're lucky that it employs an exceptionally talented editorial cartoonist. Of all I've seen nationally over the years, if Kevin Kallaugher isn't the best, then he's tied for first.
It's not only his dead-on, easily identifiable caricatures. It's his mind. At times I may disagree with his premise, but I always admire his creativity. Every Sunday I give him silent props when I smile at his work. What could be a bigger compliment?
Looking at a KAL cartoon is like finding Waldo. You have to study it for a while. This week, he devastatingly dismantled Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby by unobtrusively drawing nothing more than her fingertips. Most likely she won't be framing the June 26 lampoon.
Week after week, KAL offers bona fide art — occasionally scathing, unsparing and withering, but always on the mark.
